Mini Gripping Aids - Features and Benefits
Many medical conditions can affect a child's grip or hand function including cerebral palsy, guillain-barré syndrome, muscular dystrophy and spina bifida; but now thanks to the award winning Mini Gripping Aid, children don't have to stop having fun! When the upper strap is tightened, the aid gently pulls the hand into a fist shape and adjusts to firmly hold handlebars or items in the palm. Features padding to reduce chafing and an adjustable wrist strap making it easy for parents and carers to fasten the gripping aid onto the child's hands. Constructed out of tough webbing and a comfortable yet durable neoprene to withstand regular use, even with strenuous activities. Machine washable.
Examples of use:
• Riding an adaptive tricycle or other ride on bike
• Playgrounds (eg, swings and seesaws)
About Active Hands:
Active Hands became an award winning product in 2011 after receiving the Stelios Disabled Entrepreneur Award (UK). The gripping aids were created by wheelchair user Rob Smith who experienced a high-level spinal cord injury that left him with partial paralysis in all four limbs. Rob was frustrated by the limitations caused by his poor hand function and the lack of suitable equipment available to help him, so he began designing a range of aids to help people lead more independent lives.
